Are you interested in joining the Board of Wangaratta Festival of Jazz Inc?

The Board is the peak governance body of the Festival and is primarily focussed on strategy and policy rather than operations and implementation. This skills based, volunteer board is open to anybody with the time, passion and skill set we are looking for.

Skills we seek

While the Board has a strategic function, each member is expected to engage in a portfolio area.  We are looking for Board members who have an appreciation of jazz and / or blues and can bring skills and experience in the following areas to the Board:

  • Fundraising
  • Governance
  • Financial management and budgeting (Treasurer)
  • Volunteer development
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Community engagement
  • Music festival production
  • Jazz and blues

Directors can expect to commit to an average of 1-2 hours per week, plus a monthly board meeting for 2.5 hours plus travel time.

Directors appointed to sub-committees will have an additional commitment, to be agreed between members of that sub-committee, to meet its objectives.

A note about the 2019 Board

In 2019, we’re looking for a very special team, of highly experienced strategic thinkers who can build a firm foundation for the festival’s future. If you have served on the Board of a nationally significant arts organisation, and can demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, financial planning or stakeholder engagement at this level, the festival needs you. If you have the right skills we can offer you the opportunity to solidify this festival’s prospects, and in doing so make a huge contribution to Australia’s creative landscape.

The current Board

Wangaratta Jazz and Blues is an incorporated not-for-profit cultural body. It is governed by a highly skilled and experienced volunteer Board. At capacity, the Board has 9 members. The Board’s current composition is as follows:
