4:00 – 5:00pm, Saturday 3 November, WPAC Hall

Born in Wollongong, Australia, drummer/composer Aaron McCoullough relocated to Melbourne in 2004 to undertake studies at the Victorian College of Arts. Since completing his undergraduate studies, Aaron has been a mainstay of the Melb ourne music scene as an accompanist, collaborator, and band leader. His musical encount ers have been distinguished by many recording projects, and appearances nationally and internationally.

As a band leader, Aaron has released two titles: ‘Portrait of Thoughts’ (2013), and ‘Provenience’ (2018) featuring Australian and international musical collaborators. Aaron is a current PhD candidate investigating drum-set performance practice and proudly endorses Sakae Drums.

Joining Aaron McCoullough for this performance will be fellow collaborators: Tom Noonan (alto saxophone), Claire Strasser (tenor saxophone), Matt Hoyne (guitar), and Marty Holoubek (bass).

The selected works for the performance are embedded in the reflection, and rediscovery regarding specific localities unique to the Illawarra with a focus on the constructs of time and place.
