A wealth of experience both on and off the stage including Artistic Director Sanyo/Moomba Jazz Festivals, Executive & Artistic Director Mazda/Montsalvat International Jazz Festivals, Inaugural Queensland Jazz Action Society, President Melbourne Improvisers Association, Teacher Qld Conservatorium Jazz Diploma Course, Teacher Vic Collega of the Arts Improvisation Course, Judge Wangaratta Int. Jazz Festival National Jazz Awards.

Performance highlights include Jazz Festivals and Clubs in Norway, Sweden and Finland for Australian Foreign Affairs (the first Australian group to be invited), a month long tour of Switzerland with my band BLOW for the Australia Council/International Pathways, all major Jazz Festival and Clubs Australia wide with Brian Brown, Bernie McGann, Ted Vining Trio, Alan Lee, Musiikki Oy, Mistaken Identity, That and BLOW – plus performances as drummer for International artists Dozzy Gillespie, George Cables, Nat Adderley, Jane Bunnett, Clifford Jordan, Lee Konitz, Joachim Kuhn, Kirk Lightsey and Mark Murphy.

Ted has recorded with Bob Gebert, Don Burrows, Bernie McGann, Brian Brown, Ted Vining Trio, Mukiikki Oy, The Big One, BLOW, Oynsemble Melbourne, Wanders/Sugg, Mistaken Identity and Christopher Young.

Ted was also nominated for the Mo Award Best Jazz Group – Ted Vining Trio, and in 2017 inducted into the Australian Jazz Hall of Fame – ‘Bell Awards’.

To avoid compromising the art, Ted chose not to pursue a life as a professional musician. Instead, enjoying a career in advertising/marketing until retirement.

Ted is currently performing on a monthly basis win Melbourne with BLOW, Ted Vining Trio, Chris Young Quartet, and where possible in Tasmania with Danny Healey, Kelly Ottaway, Matt Boden, Nick Haywoos, Julius Schwing, and accasional visiting artists.
