With the Wangaratta Jazz & Blues 30th festival just months away, the new Board is seeing their hard work come to fruition. Since deciding to place the festival on a year’s hiatus, the team at Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues has held an AGM, appointed a new Board, engaged the services of a General Manager, undertaken a range of strategic planning activities and is now excited to announce the appointment of an artistic team who will program the 2020 festival.
The Festival has once again adopted the model of an artistic team – a model that was put in place and proved successful after the departure of founding artistic director Adrian Jackson in 2016.
In 2020, the program will be curated by Zoe Hauptmann (Sydney), Eugene Ball (Melbourne) and Scott Solimo (Wangaratta).
“Zoe and Scott have been involved in programming this festival already, and we’re excited to welcome them back”, said Festival Chairman and Wangaratta resident Dave Fuller.
“We’re also thrilled to welcome Eugene Ball to the team. He has played many times at the festival and is a well-respected musician, leader and educator in the Australian scene. We have three very skilled and exciting people programming our 30th festival and the Board couldn’t be happier.”
Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues is set to return to the Australian jazz and blues calendar on cup weekend in 2020. The 30th anniversary will combine Australian and international musicians in jazz and the blues. The National Jazz Awards will also return in 2020, with voice as the featured instrument.
